Here at the Copperleaf Els Club we are so proud to introduce Henry Davids a South African cricketer, a right-handed batsman and a useful right-arm medium-fast bowler as a Copperleaf ambassador.
This flashy player, who was known for his amazing stroke play made his debut for Boland against the visitors, New Zealand in 2000. He made an encouraging start to his career and scored 334 runs in 6 matches, that included a century and a fifty. What followed his incredible run was a dull period as he struggled to score runs and he couldn’t score a hundred for the next 6 years.
Henry was born in Stellenbosch in the Cape Province (19 January 1980) and has represented the following major teams South Africa, Boland, Cape Cobras, St Lucia Zouks, Titans, Western Province Boland. He is currently the captain of the Titans after a long and impressive career in cricket.
We had the opportunity to ask Henry a couple of questions please see below:
Wahts your current occupation position? Captain of the Titans Cricket Team
What has been your greatest acievement thus far? Representing my country, winning trophies with the Titans. In the 6 years I’ve been here, we won 7 trophies.
Tell us which are your favourite golfers home and International? Louis Oosthuizen and Dustin Johnson
Why do you play golf? I absolutely love golf, if I wasn’t a professional cricketer I would’ve loved to be a pro golfer, but who wouldn’t? The game is just a great leveller, just when you think you got it, it shows you it got you
What is it like being an ambassador at Copperleaf? It’s a great honour to be part of such an awesome, professional establishment. The service is awesome here, everything is to the tee, as people say! When you drive in here, you just want to get on the course, even if you here for lunch only. Best of all, the smiles on people’s faces when you walk in here.
Do you have any advice for fans who wants to achieve what you have? Be prepared to do a lot of sacrifices, do all the hard work and more, like the extra stuff that people don’t see. For me one of the most important things is to enjoy every moment, the good and the bad.
