Franco Mostert

Here at the Copperleaf Els Club we are so proud to introduce Franco Mostert a South African rugby player and all round great guy as a Copperleaf ambassador.

Franco Mostert, nicknamed ‘Sous’ by his teammates has done well to settle in and make a big impact for the Lions over the past 18 months. He was an integral part of the Lions team who have just come off a great super rugby season reaching the final before falling at the final hurdle to an explosive Hurricanes team in New Zealand.

Born in Welkom, he excelled in junior rugby and was contracted to the Blue Bulls from U21 level. He also played three seasons of Varsity Cup for the University of Pretoria and represented his province at senior Vodacom Cup level before moving to the Golden Lions in 2013.

Known for his strength and consistency at lineout time, Mostert can occasionally get feisty when the on-field action heats up which is in stark contrast to his calm and relaxed off-field demeanour.

Mostert enjoys travelling whenever he is able to get time away from rugby time off and he is also an excellent golfer who plays off a near scratch handicap.
